John Thresher

Board Certified Construction Attorney

John J. Thresher, Esquire was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and has deep roots in the community. He was admitted to practice law in Florida in April 2001. Following in his father’s footsteps, he received a top score on The Florida Bar exam and was invited to speak on behalf of the 2001 inductees at the Swearing-in Ceremony at the Second District Court of Appeal in Lakeland, Florida.

John became the second attorney at the firm board certified by the Florida Bar in Construction Law in July 2009. John Thresher clerked for the Law Firm of Joseph G. Thresher, P.A. for three years before joining the firm as an associate in December 2000. During those years, John Thresher’s experience included work in construction, design and contract surety.

Since being admitted to the bar, John has limited his practice to matters involving construction and surety law. He has significant experience in lien foreclosure actions, payment and performance bond claims, indemnity actions, construction defect matters, and scheduling/delay issues. He has actively participated in preparing complex jury cases for trial and has handled multiple arbitrations from institution through final hearing. He has experience in all aspects of civil litigation including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, taking depositions, oral argument, mediation and drafting appeals.
